AFRONOVA Gallery is a Johannesburg, South Africa-based gallery. Today, AFRONOVA Gallery is under the leadership of Emilie Demon, who took the helm of the newly established gallery following the untimely death of Henri Vergon, the gallerys founder and director, in 2020. The gallery focuses on discovering, developing, and gaining international recognition for a new generation of progressive artists from the vibrant art scene in South Africa and the Southern Hemisphere. AFRONOVA Gallery is known in particular for its roster of artists in the realms of photography and the moving image. In pursuing the gallerys longstanding commitment to spotting and supporting talented progressive artists with high potential, Demon sees her role as much broader than that of a traditional gallerist. It includes being a mentor and sounding board for the gallery;s younger artists. Among the prominent institutions the gallery has partnered with are The Studio Museum, The Smithsonian Institution, Mass Mocca, the Musée d Art Moderne de Paris, Fondation Louis Vuitton (Paris), Prada Fondazione (Milan), Fondation des Galeries Lafayette (Paris), JP Morgan Chase Foundation (New York), Images Vevey (Switzerland), etc...
